Bantamweight Z Gorres dominated his opponent Columbian Luis Melendez from the get go until the 10th and final round was about to be completed. Suddenly, Melendez connected with a well timed punch to the chin that sent Z to the canvas. Z was able to beat the count and finish the bout to secure a unanimous and lopsided decision. Minutes after the decision was announced, Z collapsed and was quickly taken to the hospital.

Z is said to have suffered from Subdural Hematoma.

Meanwhile, other Filipino stalwarts Federico Catubay lost his bout with Alberto Rosas of Mexico via 12 round decision; and welterweight Mark Jason Melligen losing a split decision in 12 rounds to Michel Rosales also from Mexico.
